Mit "Don't Make Promises" sein bereits zweites Cover von Tim Hardin, "The Bottle" von Gil Scott-Heron (ein Song gegen den Suff vom Album "Winter In America" aus dem Jahr 1973), "Black Is The Colour" ist ein Traditional, "Close To You" von Dionne Warwick (komponiert von Burt Bacharach aus dem Jahre 1972), "Early Morning Rain" von Peter, Paul and Mary (komponiert von Gordon Lightfoot), "One Way Road" wurde von Noel Gallagher (genau der, von Oasis) geschrieben und war bisher unveröffentlicht, "Hercules" von Aaron Neville (aus dem Jahr 1968, komponiert von Allen Toussaint), "Thinking Of You" von Sister Sledge (auf deren drittem Album "We Are Family", 1979), "All Along The Watchtower" von Bob Dylan und schließlich "Birds" von Neil Young.

Die ersten drei Stücke lang haut er ordentlich in die Saiten. Wie manche Kritiker jedoch sich zu dem Urteil hinreißen lassen, das Album klinge "wie zu alten Jam-Zeiten", ist mir ein Rätsel (schreiben halt alle voneinander ab). Was allerdings zutrifft, es ist mehr Energie und auch textliche Aggression in "Blink And You'll Miss It", "Paper Smile" und "Come on/Let's Go" zu spüren. Mehr Drive und weniger Effekt-Brimborium, dass hätte er auch aus den Songs von "Stanley Road" und "Heavy Soul" rausholen können.-

Mit dem vierten Song "Here's The Good News" macht er den Beatles zu "Sgt. Pepper's"-Zeiten mächtig Konkurrenz. "The Start Of Forever" ist wohl eine Liebeserklärung an sein Kind (auch ohne explizite Widmung macht der Text das klar).

Mit dem Highlights: "Blink And You'll Miss It", "Come On/Let's Go".

Auf der Bonus-DVD gibt es die Videos zu "Come on/Let's Go" und "From The Floorboards Up", 2 Livefilme von Studio-Aufnahmen zu "From The Floorboards Up" und "Here's The Good News" und ein 10-minütigen Film mit Kommentaren zur Entstehung von "As is Now".
